The concept of theme Tuesdays here on Stance Is Everything is simple, every Tuesday I pick a theme and post a collection of vehicles with that theme that meet the stance criteria (modified suspension that suit the vehicles intent). This weeks theme Tuesday topic is: Chop Shop
Over the course of the summer I managed to get out to a few events, and at a few of these events I spotted some VWs with Chop Shop Euro plates. Initially I figured it was some new out of town shop everyone was jocking until my friend Bishop told me that the shop is actually local and a fellow BMX rider. So I did a little google hunting and vortex searching and was able to pull together some pictures of the crew and their rides.
In the future I hope to do a full shop feature on Chop Shop but until then enjoy these.
Slammed GTI with time attack styled wheelsIf you look close at the bottom of the bumper you can see the Chop Shop exclusive skid platesThe rear wheels on this car are seriousThis is the Chop Shop ride I see posted on forums most oftenThe amount of work that must have gone into these wheels...This TT is dumpedAnother set of custom wheels from the Chop Shop, burberry pattern this timeThey look pretty good on this MKIIAnother Chop Shop TT, this one sits on Bentley kicksPretty sure Kevins', the bodyman at Chop Shop, JettaChop Shop crew at a local BBQRevvin it upand lettin it goAny shop that knows how to throw a good cookout is worth a post on Stance Is Everything

One downside to the automotive hobby is that it is generally one big sausage fest and when an adventurous woman does try to break into the scene she is either not taken seriously, hit on relentlessly, or both.
Some women however are dedicated enough to persevere past the nonsense and carry on.
Stephanie, the owner of this feature ride, rolls her Black 335i with vanity plates the read Blak WIDW (Black Widow) and like a black widow spider she isn’t to take lightly.
Not only does she roll with punches of the male dominated maxbimmer.com crowd better than a lot of the fellas, she also drives a car that is so tastefully modded that it has a few guys rethinking their modifications for next year.
Stephanie is no stranger to the automotive scene, she’s been modifying cars since she was of legal to drive (16 for you out of town folk).
Her previous ride was a hand built boosted Civic that laid waste to anyone ready to underestimate it and her.
After being part of Civic nation for a few years Stephanie made the jump from Honda to BMW with a slammed (black of course) e36 convertible, and then upgraded once again to her current 335i.
Your average female BMW owner would be happy to leave the car like this, Steph doesn’t do averageStephanie driving her car when it was stock on a maxbimmercruiseBlack Widows have read marks on their backs so the red interior is fitting
Stephanie’s BMW started out mean, shipping with black sapphire metallic paint, a premium sport package, and a coral red interior (with aluminum accents).
Putting down 300hp/300lb of torque as it rolled off the lot this car was no slouch either but considering how it looks and performs now its a wonder why the designers at BMW didn’t consult Stephanie before rolling out the concept.
The exterior was upgraded with an OEM BMW Aero-lip, yellow fogs, tints, and shadow lined trim.
After having some issues with the stock wheels cracking repeatedly the rims were next to go with 19″ staggered VMR V710 wheels (8.5″ front with 225/35s and 9.5″ rear with 255/30s) taking their place.
Once the wheels were installed H&R sport springs were employed to bring this car down.
Motor wise a Jb chip helps this motor put down numbers in the range of 400hp.
BMW-oem lip kit, blacked out grills, and yellow fogs finish up the front endAnother shot of the front endThe 19″ VMRS up closeHard tops are the only time convertibles look great with the top upThe stance on this car is impeccable. This car really looks as though it could have come this way from BMWThe 19’s look greatAt least anyone getting walked on by this car gets to enjoy a nice viewThe black widow herself
Having grown tired of the drag racing scene Stephanie’s next modifications are more lapping focused and include: KW V3 suspension, an upgraded front mount inter cooler, downpipes, and a full exhaust system.
Big thanks the Stephanie for submitting in a great set of photos for her feature and a nice list of modifications which made writing this feature a breeze.
I’ve tried to keep a pretty neutral stance on cars I don’t personally like since I know this hobby is pretty diverse and a form of expression. However if there is one type of car I think we can all unanimously agree is silly it has to be Donks (and Boxes and Bubbles). These cars just don’t make any sense anyway you look at it, they are impractical, slow to accelerate and brake, unsafe, and just plain look bad. Normally Donks are American cars but unfortunately it seems like this trend is seeping it’s want into the JDM crowd….
This Acura was never intended to look like thisJudging by the shop window in the background someone is trying to push this trendProbably the least attractive rolling shot I will ever postI wonder how many heads these cars turn in th eland of the rising sun
Site Updates
Well according to the tracking number my stickers haves arrived at my moms place finally! I am going there Saturday to work on my car some and pick them up so for those of you who won some stickers from the WTF Friday a few weeks ago expect to see them in the mail soon.
This weeks Theme Tuesday went over a lot better than I expected so I am going to start working on another girl version sooner rather than later, but it takes awhile to pull those ones together.
The good news is one of the girls is going to have her car featured here on Monday so be sure to come back for that.
Next week I also plan to make good on my promise and put up some of Sam H’se30 meet pictures since I didn’t get a chance to this week and hopefully I will have a new Featured Photographer up as well.
Sometimes in life you just have to work with what you’ve got and other times you have to improvise and this is true of the car hobby. Not all of us have a say in what we currently drive and some of us willingly choose to drive something a little left of the norm. Regardless resourceful automotive folk are, well, resourceful automotive folk and while some are quick to pass over whatever is currently sitting in their driveway, shop, or yard others are willing to work with what they have got. Today’s cars are examples of just that.
How many of us have a friend with a neon that has paint that looks like its running away from the primer? These older Volvo's can pack quite an unexpected punch under the hoodNo word of a lie I have seen one of these lose against a person running in a parking lotI must have a lot more information about this truck, anyone?I never thought I would post this generation of CorollaShop owners do you have an old work truck sitting in your yard? If so get on it!Have to protect that oilpan some how
Yesterday I read that Honda/Acura has finally put the NSX out to pasture in Japan’s SuperGT racing series after almost 20 years of track duty, I also learned that the NSX began production in 1990 and ran to 2005. Being so rare around these parts I had no idea that they were produced so long. These cars fetch a pretty penny still so for someone to take one out to the track and drift yet on a regular basis takes a special kind of crazy. Thankfully these special people are easier to find thanks to this monster we call the internet.
While I am not a huge drifting aficionado I appreciate the sport as it’s a branch of the automotive hobby and therefore found myself knocking about the DriftLife blog and that’s where I spotted the NSX drifter.
I am pretty sure the entire online automotive community collective cringe if an NSX got stuffed drifting, but judging by how clean looks I think it’s safe for me to assume that this driver didn’t learn to drift in this car he just happens to be drifting in it right now.
His NSX is also his tire trailer, wild! The front bumper is the only thing other than the tire rack removed for driftingHow many mid engine cars do you see drifting?Somewhere an NSX purist is screaming
The concept of theme Tuesdays here on Stance Is Everything is simple, every Tuesday I pick a theme and post a collection of vehicles with that theme that meet the stance criteria (modified suspension that suit the vehicles intent). This weeks theme Tuesday topic is: Girls with hot rides
I’m glad to say that the days of girls driving cars that look like this are thankfully coming to an end. These days girls doing their cars up just as nice and sometimes better than the fellas, so ladies this one’s for you.
Silver Snail’s Bagged GTI
To kick things off here is a bagged local ride which I have spotted a few times in my travels both online and in real life. The stance and wheel choice are on point and and while I have never had a chance to talk to the owner I know that she is part of a VW loving couple that loves to fly low.
Sitting low on pink BBS'sI got to see this spectacular ass in person at Vagkraft this year
Mazda Kittens 3
This is the second time I’ve posted MK’s 3 but it’s a well deserved double take, I was sweating these wheels for awhile, who would have thought stock Subaru rims would fit let alone look great.
Some Subaru owner is made they got rid of their wheels
Foxie’s Miata
I’ve mentioned Foxie from Cars X Girl subtly in the past and she’s also a regular commenter on my posts. However some of you might not have known that she drives a nicely set up Miata as a daily driver and weekend warrior. She’s also working on a 240 which I have been keeping my eye on.
This car could run circles around a lot of more expensive rides
Krystyn’s STI
Krystun has had a few nice cars over the years, she had a Del Sol show car for awhile that went through quite a few revisions and a Blue STI that got stolen before this one. Now that she has this STI I don’t think she will ever let it go, don’t mess with this car.
Krystyns is the one on the leftGet used to this view
Audrey’s m5
I found this car when working on the It’s MurderTheme Tuesday post and realized it’s almost mythical presence on the internet. The car is owned by an attractive blond member of the Mischeif crew who goes by the web handle silicone valley (I will leave that one alone), all the videos of her driving it on youtube have been taken down though bummer.
Blacked out Alpina's look pretty sharp
Black Widows e93
Stephanie aka Black Widow is a max member and drives this 335i which sits on a set of staggered 19″ VMRs with H&R sports bringing the height down to where it needs to be.
Black Sapphire Metallic shining in this underground parking I wonder if the cops ever hassle her for the euro plate
The owner putting on her first set of wheels pre wide bodyMy love for white 3s should be fairly obvious by now
Morgan Jade’s Civic Type R
This ride belongs to another female blogger who I spotted on the blog roll of The Chronicles. Morgan owns a car that would make a lot of the jdmrides.ca crew supe jealous a swapped RHD Civic Type R. I wouldn’t mind kicking around in this car and her blog has slowed down some of my productivity at work.
Clean and guttedAn owner and her obsession
H2oInternational Girls
A group of girls hit up H2oInternational this year (water cooled VW/Audi show) and ever since these pictures hit the net I have not really been able to get away from them, and for good reason these cars are done right.
Euro TrickAnother proud owner beside her nice rideSo many things looking proper on this ride, the color, the height and that rear dish! The owner showing off her status. The car is a eos btw...This owner uses pink accents to set off her modifications
Not, not the armed reserves, my reserve of photos that I have saved from here and there for days when I don’t have quite enough time to pop off something 100% local or 100% original. This weekend basically went a little pear shaped after my car failed it’s emissions test and since my license expires tomorrow it has spilled over into a problem I need to deal with today, however, that’s no reason to leave my readers hanging.
Normally Lambo owners just buy the cars and strut them around like they hand built them, this dude added a little flavorThis Audi wag slipped through the cracks of two Theme Tuesdays so I had to throw it up todayRed and black e46 from the Bimmersport crewPerhaps one of the cleanest hatches I have ever seenEvery car I have seen from the EuroProjektz crew has been flawlessI'm kind of a big fan of theseRemember before when I said Stance Everything? Perfect example
So that’s that, be back with an enjoyable Theme Tuesday tomorrow that I have been working on for a little bit. Anyway off the the mechanic cross your fingers that I can get my car to pass smog today with my header and HKS setup, I might need it.
FYI: Did some upgrading and therefore backing up to my portable hard drive of the Stance Is Everything folder on my computer, I had about 8 GBs of content kicking around (raw photos from event coverage making up the bulk of the content) but it looks like I will have content for some time yet.
This is really weird to me and I shared it via twitter a few days ago. I never saw this car before I got my new wheels but then I came across it a few days ago on bike guide. I don’t know if we are running the exact same wheels but it looks like we have the same drop, exhaust, and lip.
Obviously I like the look (however I like mine better!) but this might mean that I go wheel shopping again next year.
I rock way less stickers on my rear window and we shaved different badges (I still have my big M)I don't mind the white on white but I could never keep white wheels clean personally
Saw this one a few days ago and I could hardly wait until Friday to throw it up. Amphibious (which I had to spell phonetically) vehicles have been around for awhile but none have tucked rim while riding waves before the WaterCar Python. This bagged truck can go places that most bagged trucks can’t, won’t and shouldn’t go.
The Python costs a lot, at 200, 000 (which doesn’t even get you a roof or the LS1 dropped in), and I could think of a lot of other things I would buy at that price but it is apparently the ultimate amphibious vehicle seeing that it dos 60 mph on the water the quarter mile in about 12 seconds and zero to sixty in 4.5 seconds. As WaterCar says this vehicle is not for the faint of heart…
Layed out in the water, actually looks kinda dope.Tuckin Rim!Doesn't look so great out of the water ...Not too bad insideChicks seem to dig it though
Well another pretty good week traffic wise and comment wise, people are having conversations in the comments now which is truly awesome. My stickers are still… somewhere… I hope to get them soon and I really hope I didn’t lose my money.
Might go to the c7 fall tour this weekend apparently over 500 cars are going, we will see how I feel Sunday morning did a lot of driving last weekend so this weekend would be great to relax but next weekend it could be winter who knows!
Anyway I might drop a post or two over the weekend so check back or just follow my twitter.
After getting a little love from HellaFlush quite a few new people started following me on twitter, real people, not just those weird half naked fake accounts that tell you about teeth whitening. One of the accounts that stood out was British Columbia photographer Bryce Casselmans. The pic of him ripping some back roads in his Miata looked sort of interesting and seeing that he and I share a lot of the same interests (cars, toys, ‘extreme sports’ photography) and I so I decided to follow his tweets. He has been doing some interesting things with model cars lately and I thought it was worth sharing what can be done with a few bucks, some camera equipment, and a little creativity.
Looks as good comingAs it does goingThe amateur photographer in me thinks shooting blue on blue would be hardI think at 1:1 scale that rear wheel would be about a 22"
This is probably my favorite set of the bunch, such a creative use of a fog machine (owning a fog machine is pretty awesome on it’s own).
Roast the tires! For some reason I want to start playing smoke on the waterI think someone could actually fit rear wheels that large into a very tubbed out 69
