Reader Matt suggested last week that I do a Theme Tuesday on rare wheels, and I admit it’s a pretty theme idea that I have never tackled.
Rare wheels come in several different forms, low production, out of production, and unique applications and this week’s Theme Tuesday touches on all varieties.
It’s also just a quick skim of the surface until I get some time to really dive in to this topic, expect this theme to boomerang back around in the next few months or so.
Going to start things off with the Messer wheels on Stance East Chad’s Mercedes
Messer makes a lot of unique wheels (many of which are too extreme for me) and Chad happens to have the only ME-06-3 wheels in North America
Time for me to toot my horn a bit, the directional wheels on my car are one of four Mtechnica have made
At last check they were also the only 18″ models in existence…
Luxury Abstract wheels are still owned by a relatively select few and none have the finish that Aidan’s do
He waited a while for these to be cut but it was worth it, now if only the car itself would come back out of the shop…
The SSR Defi Fins on Pete’s car are rare, rare, rare, so rare in fact that SSR seemed quite surprised he had a pair when I sent them photos
They are quite aggressive but they suit his EF pretty well
Ken has a whole slew of Rare wheels in his collection but these Autocouture Crescent wheels are perhaps my favorite, its such a classic VIP full face style
These Work VS GS wheels also look quit nice though. No matter what wheels he runs Ken has excellent taste
Weds LXZ wheels are not exactly rare, but seeing them on a minitruck certainly is
On that same note, Billets on a VW? Looks great and I can’t imagine thee are a lot of a Billets of this vintage kicking around in vw fitment
More billets, these are, as far as I know this set was specifically made for this new, new-Beetle
On a bit of a VW/billet roll here, these HTN wheels on @remux ‘s car are the only ones I’ve ever seen
Jasgjiven’s Carline CM2 wheels are, if I am not mistaken, quite rare, to the point where he might have one of the few (only?) sets in North America
Going to end things off with some ultra rare Campagnolo wheels spotted on a Golf GTI back in 2012
These wheels were originally made for ‘ 77 Ferrari 08 GT4 before Rotiform modified them for VW fitment
It might not look it but my dog Olive is very much impressed
excellent! cant wait for more! classics as well?
Yeah, that area might be a bit harder for me, but I can give it a shot!
Nice, would like to see more off this theme as well.
